Our Recent review in ChemCatChem! “The [(NH3)4Cu2O2]2+_Peroxo Complex as the Key Intermediate for NH3‐SCR Activity and Deactivation of Cu‐CHA Catalysts”

Our latest review in ChemCatChem examines the significant role of the [(NH3)4Cu2O2]2±peroxo complex in NH3-SCR processes using Cu-CHA catalysts at low temperatures (150–300°C). This complex, created by oxidizing mobile (NH3)2CuI-complexes within the zeolite cages, is key to the catalytic behavior of Cu-CHA. The interaction between this complex and NO is essential for NH3-SCR activity, while its reaction with ammonia can inhibit this process. Furthermore, SO2 deactivates the catalyst by forming Cu−S compounds through its reaction with the complex. Our review provides detailed insights into the characterization and reactions of the [(NH3)4Cu2O2]2±peroxo complex with NO, NH3, and SO2, supported by kinetic models based on first principles calculations.
